Freillon-Poncein’s “La Veritable Maniere…”

“La vèritable maniére d'apprendre é jouer en perfection : du hautbois, de la flute et du flageolet.” was published by Jean-Pierre Freillon-Poncein in around 1700 in Paris. The section on the flageolet is quite short but gives the following fingering chart. The fingerings given are not unusual, although the way in which they are laid out is unintuitive (with the first row showing all natural notes, the second showing sharps and the third flats). It is worth noting that the range is quite conservative, consisting of an octave and a minor–seventh.
